nayrt but yeah um. shipping is about two characters being into each other, I am not there so my attraction matters not.

I remember the Merlin ship fandom, and it was very much like OP suggests. as long as you were shipping Merlin and Arthur, fine, but try to ship Merlin with literally anyone else especially het? Now he's ugly.

Exactly. You could put two of the hottest (to me) characters together but if they have all of the chemistry of stale bread, the ship won't be hot. Meanwhile, one character could look like a foot, but if they're totally and utterly head-over-heels for each other? That's hot.

I agree with other anon. I mean obviously I'm not going to enjoy a show or ship with people I find repulsive to look at, but I don't have to find them attractive to ship them.

As others have said, what really matters is that the characters in my ship are attracted to each other.

Admittedly, I may tweak how I imagine certain characters slightly in order to suit my own aesthetic tastes, but I can't really imagine a character's canonical appearance dissuading me from a ship I would've otherwise been into.

I'm not the one fucking the characters.
