I liked her. And I didn't mind the romance with Kili. I did not like Legolas having feelings for her, the jealousy, that whole angle. And yes, why couldn't she be taller than Kili? That would have been cool.

I really liked her and still do, I can give or take her romance with Kili in that in the canon I find it a bit forced but in fanon the writers do a lot to make it cute so I'm overall neutral to them. She doesn't super-tower over Kili but she's still taller than him but a fair bit, but I can agree that her being even taller would have been neat. It's not like they weren't messing with height-stuff for the dwarves anyway.

I could have done without her, but she was a more inoffensive part of the awful padding. The choice to make her both red-headed and the center of a love triangle (which included a well-known character who wasn't even in the hobbit) was a bit much, though.

But she is taller? Unless you wanted her even taller than that, but even Gimli almost comes up to the shoulders of the guys in the movies so the height difference isn’t any less, aside from the actress playing Tauriel being shorter than those men in general.

I hated the love triangle, especially as the actress only signed on because she was told there wouldn't be a romance plot for her.

What opinions do you mean and in what context?

I enjoyed his documentaries, but can't really remember the details. The one about the coast was nice. I enjoyed the history of Scotland one, but honestly... I'd expect him to feel some kind of way about that, given he's a Scot.
