In a very similar boat here - dated one (1) guy in college more because I felt excited that someone finally expressed an interest in me than because I was interested in him. Never got past a couple kisses before that ended, and haven’t so much as gone on a date in the 20 or so years since then. I’m not ace and I’m not opposed to being in a relationship, it just never happened. And you know what? I know of at least 3 of my good friends from high school who have similar stories. It may be less common but we’re not freaks of nature either. Would be nice to see stories like that (that don’t treat the people like they’re pathetic or damaged in some way.)

That’s been my experience but I am ace, however my best friend isn’t and has lived a similar life so far (early 30s). I saw yesterday a post on reddit of someone in a similar situation. It’s really not that unlikely. I think society likes to pretend it’s this absurd thing because the people who aren’t getting laid are seldom yelling about it because there are bigger and better things to worry about in life unless you’re a pathetic cishet white incel type of man who thinks they are entitled to everything.
