Same. I'll never stop being bitter about Iron Man being a main character in the third Captain America movie.

He became the main character in every movie. He took over Spiderman too. Really annoying. Even after he was dead he was taking things over. And I liked his first two movies a lot. He's great on his own thing. And he was fine in Avengers 1. But when he started to take over everything it got really annoying.

Thissss

Amen. I liked the character initially, but he didn't need to be in EVERYTHING as the main focus.

This is a big exaggeration, I think. In Spider-Man, he was not a main character but a supporting one. And what about everyone else who took center stage during Civil War? Are they also "taking things over"? Why is Tony the only one getting called out for that? He played a significant role in the Civil War movie because he had a major role to play in the Civil War comics. Were the movie makers supposed to ignore that? He and Steve are the main leaders of the Avengers in most of the Avengers comics, so it's logical that they would get a bit more screen time than the other superheroes. Finally, Steve's shadow after his "death" looms over the narrative just as much as Tony's. When I hear fans complain about how much Tony "took over, even after his death", all I can think is that they disliked the character so much that anytime he even remotely was treated as an important part of the storyline, they got annoyed.

Yes! They changed so much other stuff from the Civil War storyline in the comics that it was very much not the same thing, so why not that? (To be fair, the comics storyline was fucking terrible, the movie was only mildly crap, so I'd have to say the changes were a good idea on the whole.)

Why did they have to make Civil War a "Captain America" movie. Make it an Avengers movie and have a different movie that actually focused on Cap as Cap 3.

In Spiderman, he was a "supporting character" who directly caused two of the villains and handed the hero multiple magitech suits and gadgets. That is quite a lot for a "supporting character".

Yeah, RDJ tends to have that effect in whatever movie he's in.

Hm…I’m having a hard time thinking of examples off the top of my head. I can think of plenty of films where he was the main character or one of two main characters. But not really ones where I felt like the movie should have been (or was originally) focused on someone else.

But maybe it’s a personal blind spot, since I do often find him charming and enjoyable to watch.

I can't think of any movies he did that either.

I'm STILL bitter about that too
