Re: Job searching

I tried to brace myself for a lot of rejection, and keep my spirits up, remembering that I am one of dozens or even hundreds of applicants. I also didn't try to put a ton of effort into every single application. Counterintuitive, but fussing over small details and putting lots of energy into every application means I can apply for fewer jobs and the rejections are more upsetting.

Obviously, check for any errors and make sure your resume gives a good impression, but don't obsess over getting it perfect or get into a mindset like you already work for the company. After a certain point extra effort is going nowhere, it's unnecessary to impress the hiring manager and draining to put yourself through.

I try to organize my resume so that the information is easy to understand at a glance, remembering the hiring managers are skimming many similar resumes. Simple, clear and gets my experience across right away. I do try to use keywords related to the job field/job listing, where appropriate.

I landed a new job a month ago, was rejected for several before that and had to keep motivating myself to try again, just doing a few applications a day until I heard back, doing interviews back to back, until I got my new job. Good luck!
