I always think about it getting caught on something and yanked right out.

Me too but I really did see that happen to an earring, hence the visual. I suspect a septum would be more resistant to that happening than an earlobe, but I can't stop the image.

I have the same problem with hoop earrings. Studs are fine for me wherever they might be.

Yeah, it was a relatively small hoop earring where I saw it happen. So any kind of hoop bothers me. I don't say anything, but it bother me.
