Me too but I really did see that happen to an earring, hence the visual. I suspect a septum would be more resistant to that happening than an earlobe, but I can't stop the image.

Those piercings that stretch too - and big hoop earrings. They make me want to hurl not because I dislike them, but because upon seeing them I instantly get a vivid vision of the aftereffects of sticking my fingers in and yanking HARD and it's kind of a gross vision to have.

I HATE those big plugs in people's ears. Like, you're probably going to get tired of that look eventually and need surgery to close the big droopy circles in your lobes.

Not a fan of most tattoos either. I've seen some absolutely beautiful ones, but 90% of the ones I come across... aren't.

Like OP, I keep these judgmental thoughts entirely to myself and would never hurt anybody's feelings for liking them. They just don't appeal to me personally.

I'm not a fan of nose piercings in general, but the septum is definitely the least favorite of them all. Noses just kind of gross me out.

Unfortunately they seem very popular in my friend group.

There's a handful of piercings I'd hate to have, but I don't mind looking at. About the only nose piercing that doesn't make me wish I didn't have to look at the person who has it is the tiny, Indian nostril-with-stud one.

I accept that it's not my business what other people do with their own bodies. But it's not their business to try to shame me into liking it.

Some of you sound pretty self-satisfied about having the same opinions on body mods as my conservative grandma.

As a counterpoint: I think septum piercings look cool as hell. I don't get the livestock comparisons, I guess I could maybe see it if someone is intentionally going for that with a large plain ring? Mostly they just make people look hot and alt. <3

I love how just a septum piercing is somehow 'too much' and so 'out there' for so many folks here lmao. None of these people would survive in alt/goth circles and it's so funny.

Septum piercings are pretty basic from what I'm used to seeing, I don't have one because getting the three I do have in my ears was a bit of a trial and error process as my skin is so finicky about anything being done to it, but if I had more freedom with that I'd have a middle lip piercing, and eyebrow piercing, if helix ones healed right at least two on each side.

I grew up on a farm, and the septum piercing was how we got those big animals to behave when walking them from one corral to another. They were definitely not going to yank back, because the piercing caused pain.

All to say, OP, I agree with you. It’s the one piercing I will never get.

I have no problems with nostril piercings but septum piercings always make me think something is dripping from their nose and it low-key grosses me out. Which is 100% a "me issue" but it is what it is.
