Except no. Lesbian here. Pornwise: I like yuri in general because holy god it's hot, I like het in general because holy god it's hot, and I like yaoi in general because holy god it's hot. Sex is hot. As long as I don't have to stare directly at a penis or deal with one IRL, seeing a character in that kind of excitement is hot. For anything related to sex involving a male or males, there's a reason that the facial expressions and body's movements are infinitely more exciting than their body parts and any dick-insertion, to me. And that's the visual aspect; with stories, there's such a strong removal between seeing male sexual organs and having them described (usually not in much detail) in text that it doesn't tend to bother me at all.

Story-wise -- ship-wise, no porn? The pairings are awesome if the characters are awesome and they have a relationship (or even possible relationship, given their personalities) that is compelling to me. Het, yuri, or yaoi. And I find most relationships between characters interesting enough that I could be compelled to ship it.

I can semi-easily project myself into a character, in a general sense, no matter what their gender is, if I like/identify with the character enough. This isn't because I'm a lesbian; this is because I'm a writer. Strictly speaking, I can project myself as easily into male characters as female characters a lot of the time because I'm more genderfluid than anything, but that's another story; not all lesbians can identify with males. At all. Lesbian =/= less of a girl, or more of a boy. And porn-wise, I can't really project myself into a male character easily simply because of the difference in parts; I have no idea how anything would feel or what the experience would be like, at all.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but... if you can acknowledge the fact that the people in this thread are reasonably angry, and look past their anger to what they're actually saying, you should be able to see why your assumption is an incredibly insulting one. If you're not a troll and you sincerely just are trying to understand something that confuses you, why not just ask a few of the people you're confused about, and listen to what they have to say? You'll probably get more than just one answer, too, because it's not the same for everybody across the board. People enjoy what they enjoy for different reasons, and if you're so far removed, you won't be able to "understand" just by guessing.

SKIPPING AND HOLDING HANDS IS MY FAVOURITE THING EVER. I also enjoy linking arms. Today I walked arm-and-arm with my friend Adrian while he was on his longboard and I pulled him. It was fun except for the part where we fell.

LMAO well it's not so hard unless you include the um. Longboard. There was a point where he made me sit on it while he pushed it and we almost fell, and when I lowered my hand to brace myself he almost stepped on it. And I almost lost half the skin on my hand. Longboards are dangerous shit.

Thank you for saying something I wanted to say more coherantly than I ever could. I hear people talk about how some sex acts involving boybits are so much more interesting/hot to read about than others, but they tend to be not appealing at all for me to read because, quite frankly, I can't identify with cock.[*] (I know it's a YMMV thing, though.)

Besides, with yaoi (and het and yuri, for that matter) I'm far more interested in the characters involved, first and foremost.

As a gay guy who likes yaoi, yuri, AND het, ILU. (Although there's an inherent double standard here- NO ONE will question why, as a guy, I like girl/girl- they'll assume "OMG LESBIANS MUST WATCH DUR HURR". And it sucks.)
