I hate that certain trans headcanons have invaded my fandom and are showing up everywhere. I hate reading about trans characters.

(Not that I think they shouldn't be allowed to be written, I just wish they weren't popular in my fandom spaces.)

Secret because: I am trans.

Same. And if you ever ask people to please tag their shit so you can avoid getting dysphoric they accuse you of transphobia. :(

Ugh, same, just because I find it depressing to find - in almost every fucking case - that the author thinks trans men are secret girls and inevitably makes the trans character more feminine, more passive, more emotional, smaller, prettier, etc., etc., than they are in canon to prove beyond a shred of doubt that this indeed the case.

Occasionally I'll get carefully curated recommendations from trusted friends in which this is not the case - hence the "almost" - but if I'm randomly clicking something on AO3 it's been 99.99999% accurate to the point that they've become an immediate Avoid tag for me.

The fact that it's usually the same character Assigned Secret Girl is even worse.

I'm not trans, but I have a lot of trans male friends, acquataintances, coworkers, relatives (including one of my dads!), and they are not just larping; the fact that most people, even in supposedly enlightened fandom spaces, still clearly think they're women with short hair and mastectomies depresses the shit out of me.
