I've had to explain teetotaler to the lady doing my mortgage paperwork and also to a former boss.

That is one of those words that feels like it should mean the opposite of what it does. To me it sounds like it's describing someone who is staggering drunk.

DA Ha. It stuck with me that George Orwell favored the more scathing epithet of "juice drinker."
