It's not a problem of wanting to not do it yourself. But you aren't owed exactly what you want just because you want it. That's the problem. If you want something, but don't want to pay or make it yourself, you deal with what's available for free. But the problem with AI bros is they want exactly what they want for free all the time. They don't see artists as worth money. Because they want to consume consume consume, but ONLY EXACTLY WHAT THEY WANT, ALL THE TIME. They don't WANT surprise. They want to enter "2b from nier automata in leotard looking out window at rain" and to have fifty different versions of it to fap to without paying for those fifty different versions because they see themselves as BETTER than artists who DARE charge them for labor.

My issue with AI art and writing is people want the end result without the process of getting to that point. The work and process is part of the experience of art, for me. I love improving, I love learning from my mistakes, I love expressing my emotions in my art, I love looking at a drawing I made years ago and going "wow, this wasn't too bad" or even "wow, I've gotten so much better since then." During the pandemic I sat down and did studies because I felt so awful about my art, and even if I cringe at my sketchbooks then I see that "bad" art as an important stepping stone.

I think hardcore anti-AI people will crucify me for saying this, but I've actually used AI generators and created AI art before. And it just wasn't the same. Inputting keywords of a picture I want isn't the same as the satisfaction of working towards my goal of getting better at art. I could spend an hour trying to generate the image I have in my head... Or I can just try to draw it myself. It's not the same as the process of sketching, painting, adding final touches, the whole yards.

I'm personally open to AI as a tool, like generating an idea before drawing and fleshing it out, or I'd love some kind of bot that you can show a WIP of and it will critique for you. But people use it as a replacement for art instead of a tool for making the process easier.

I'd be a lot more okay with AI shit if it didn't steal art from people without permission and people used it to give an idea of what they want. But it's Plagiarism Machine 9000.

Okay? I agree, but what does that have to do with the points I made? My art was scraped into AI before, this stuff affects me too.
