Sometimes I get lucky and am able to track a fic down on the Internet Archive, though I admit I've only tried this with FFN in the past. (And before anyone asks, no, I don't share it with anyone or repost it.)

Download anything you might want to read again, if it’s not too late. A lot of explicit and lgbt stuff has been taken down by US authors since January, and that’s not going to stop anytime soon.

Idk why but I got out of the habit of downloading and saving my fic. I think there were a few years where I didn't have a pc and I don't download on my phone so I just got out of the habit.

I do, however, try and leave the title and author and sometimes summary of a fic in my "notes" when I bookmark it, so at least if it is deleted I'll know which fic it was. It drives me nuts just to see the "this fic was deleted" with absolutely no idea what fic it was.

I remember this gloriously grimdark fic called "A sorcerer , a demon and emeralds" back in the day. I foolishly forgot to save it and now I can't find it anymore.

Another one I remember and really want to find is an old Sonic the hedgehog fanfic about Sonic and Tails being kept as pets by humans (complete with collars). Tails is owned by a really mean girl who treats him poorly. Tails eats her slowly, saving her brain for last. If anyone remembers this fic please tell me the name or provide a link

There are so many other fics and fansites that I loved from the early 2000s and now they are gone forever.
I wish I had downloaded them when I had the chance

I actually love these books, but I feel you because that is pretty much how I feel about the Discworld books. Boring and near incomprehensible. However, I don't hold it against the author.

Love this. James Spader is SO hot and he has aged like a fine wine, which is reason enough, but there's also something so compelling and attractive about Reddington, despite (because of?) his heavily skewed moral compass.

This is one of those areas in which I think if the money doesn't go directly to JKR and it doesn't keep romanticizing how "good" the HP lore is, there shouldn't be any scandal or finger waving.

I try my best not to engage on HP stuff, mostly because the entire fandom and existence makes me uncomfortable, but I still recognize the influence the series had on me. I know that we don't just simply drop a fandom and pretend it no longer exists or that anything relating to it is instantly bad.

I think you've missed the point. You want the revolution to be nice. To be kind. To be respectable.

And that is great, it really is, we need more nice and kind people in this world.

Those in power are not going to yield to nice and kind though. Nice, kind, respectable protests don't win revolutions. They are nice and ignorable to those in power.

Yes, it makes it easier to demonize the rebellion. That is not point. That is incidental to the process. The Point is that, demonization or not, the Empire's response becomes so cruel, so harsh, and so intolerable, that even if they think the Rebellion is full of woke commie pinko trans scum, it still becomes the lesser evil in the life of the average civvie yobbo. The Empire is gonna demonize the Rebels in any case, because that is all they do.

It is cruel and harsh and lot of innocent people are gonna have to die by the hands of both the "good guys" and the "bad guys" to get the bad guys out of power and the nice and kind guys in.

I'm sorry that seems harsh, but that is how it is. How it has always been. And showing it with Luthen is one hundred percent the right thing.

I'd likely be more for AI if it were heavily regulated. And if there were steep punishments for people who steal art/writing/etc to "train" their models. And punishments for those who don't clearly label their AI ragebait.

But really, "I dun wunna give up x thing because cheap/convenient" is infuriating to hear when the world is burning around you and you are knowingly contributing to it, and not out of necessity.

I stick with my small, intimate friend group and we go one day at a time, lol. Yeah, we get sweaty sometimes with it, but we usually keep each other in check when the delulu starts getting out of control. It's much better to consume it that way and we can have deep, serious discussions about scandals and whatnot without slurs, rampant name-calling, and genuine hateful comments.
