I was looking for some old Pokemon cards to show my nephew some "vintage" ones and came across a box of note cards. I would have made these when I was a pre-teen.

There were many different lists but the most prominent are the Pokemon teams and Animporphs animal forms of DBZ characters. Of course, my favorites had the best Pokemon. I also found some lists for Yu-Gi-Oh, CSI, House MD of various things like dragon type, something I called "mystics", and a couple I couldn't figure out the meaning behind.

Back in grade school, pre-internet times, we had handwritten tier lists of what video game and cartoon characters would win in fights. Index card system divided by rank. Goku and Superman were top tier ofc

I don't know if we ever did tier lists on the playground. Though, my sister and I would have arguments about which Mortal Kombat character we were pretending to be would be the other.

Okay but that is super cute and creative.

I don't think I really did anything particularly fandomy as a kid. I wasn't very creative in that arena. My siblings and I all played made up games a lot, but not based on shows or books or anything. I did start writing very obvious self insert fanfic in high school. I am forever thankful the internet wasn't what it is today and the few things I did post had a pretty small audience and disappeared with the geocities days. And the other fic was all just hand written stuff in a notebook that eventually got tossed.

I wrote ONE fic as a kid and it was about the DBZ characters going on a horse ride (iirc). It's on some hard drive in a landfill now, never to see the light of day!

Not exactly fandom, but I was really into mythology as a child.

I imagined and wrote down which of my friends and schoolmates I would “cast” as the gods of various pantheons.

My friends and I used to write fic in class by passing the notebook to each other (this was before cell phones and text messaging, even forum RPing). We had a whole thing planned out that was inspired by a lot of things including but not limited to Sailor Moon, Doctor Who, Fushigi Yuugi and Buffy.

That's so cute! We never did round robin type fics but we did write stories for our WoW characters. xD

I don't know if this counts but when I was a little kid I had one of those rubber Gumbys with wire on the inside and I was playing Hansel and Gretel and stuck Gumby in the oven and he stunk up the whole house

I once put a rubber toy on a grill and ruined it. 😩 Yours must have been so much worse being in a closed space like that.

One positive childhood memory of doing fun stuff with my sister despite the issues with JKR (this way back before that) we were like.. 13 and 10 or so, we made these catalogs /"magazines" in the wizarding world , of magic school uniforms. We made them out of notebook paper and string and markers and like. It's just a really nice positive memory I have , just the time where for a bit me and her... clicked. We shared something. It wasn't often she had her own interest in fandom stuff growing up ..but in the best of times she was super supportive of mine. One time even when we were older and argued more.. she printed out a fanfic for Danny Phantom because she knew I liked it

It's.. idk it's just special to me because it was one of those moments we spent together.

That is so sweet! I'm glad yall have those memories together. It's always fun to think back on times like that.

thanks . honestly me and Kaiti get along way better now than we did as kids. And as much as we had our moments where we weren't nice to each other at times (I look back with a lot of shame on some things I said when I was newly graduated and dealing with recovering from my school experience), at the end of the day .. well we're sisters .and yeah.

I kinda remember when me, kaiti and our youngest sister Sydney (10 at the time) went to see the original Frozen. When "Do you want to build a snowman" ended .. me and Kaiti were just crying and Syd didn't get it. but I feel like/suspect in that moment we both saw ourselves/each other or our relationship in Anna and Elsa. and just... yeah

At least I know I did. It's one of those things in Disney movies you don't GET til you're older what's REALLY sad about the context of the song/what its saying.

I think it helps a lot when you are no longer trapped in the same house with a sibling every day, all day.

Oh for sure. There were lots of periods the family was moving and moving and that whole ordeal spiked my stress levels xD

And for two months at one point my mom my sisters and I were living in. one bedroom apartment before we moved into our house.

Oh god, I liked a TV series and I made this scrapbook on construction paper with everything I could find, like TV Guide covers and listings and mentions in magazines. I would buy any magazine I could find with an article about the show or the actors. (This is waaaaaaaaay pre-internet.)

It was truly not even a good show.

I did the same thing for a show called Prison Break. It had me in a death grip for the whole first season.

I made birth certificates for all my Star Wars figures and worked out family trees. Yes, including the robots.

Aw man, that's awesome. Especially the family trees. xD

I had a jacket airbrushed with Chernobog from Fantasia on the back of it.

OMG, that would have been something I wore every day to school.
