I am very irritated by internet leftists right now.

I'm a Democrat and a liberal, but apparently not leftist enough to satisfy these people, the types who couldn't vote for Kamala and threw their support behind loser no-hopers like that jackass Jill Stein.

Sorry I'm not enough of a communist for you, but purity tests are unhelpful when the opposition candidate is someone like TRUMP, ffs.

(Anonymous) 2025-06-17 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
As someone who is very far left, and probably lefter in reality than the people you're talking about, you will never be leftist enough to satisfy those people because they make their identity and self-worth about being lefter-than-thou. They're a meme for a reason

Ugh. I hate those people too. Sorry, no. You helped Trump. Sometimes you do have to pick the lesser evil. I had issues with Kamala. But she wasn't Trump. And a vote for anyone else in that election supported him.

+1

Democrats have to stop waiting around for the perfect candidate to come along, court them, fall in love and sweep them off their feet. It's never gonna happen. People need to stop voting with their hearts and start voting with their brains. Too many people voted based on "vibes" this election and IT SHOWS.

(Anonymous) 2025-06-18 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
For the record, I think the Democratic Party needs to have a better game plan in general and stop blocking their more progressive members. Whatever kept the party floating in years past is now working against them, and moving further right is a losing strategy.

But fuck anybody who throws their vote when fascism is literally banging on the front door. It's a childish move, and shows that the voter is poorly informed and/or lacks empathy.

(Anonymous) 2025-06-18 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
But how do we keep the Democratic party from doing the same old shit if we keep voting for them WHEN they do it?

(Anonymous) 2025-06-18 08:32 am (UTC)(link)
You have to take a page out of the Right's playbook.

Stop voting for them. Be ready to take the L and be super loud about why, and not cringing over it. Go into every battle, even the ones you know you cannot win, saying that not only can you win, but you deserve to win and that if you didn't win then it meant foul play. Raise holy hell every time you lose. Be obstructionist and no bipartisan. When you do get a Win then don't be conciliatory, you drive hell for leather at the most radical victory and implement the most radical policies in your agenda. Even if it means you think they'll lose you the next election, see point one in this, because the more you implement and more radical it is, the harder it is to reverse. Stop trying to make The System work, and say Fuck the System instead. Pack the courts with your radicals, fire generals that won't support Your cause.

Do what the Right has been doing, only do it with Leftist policies, because it fucking works. Even when The Right is out of power, they still get all their shit done anyway. Stop being timid quiche eating milquetoasts.

Liberal and I'm with you. Most actual liberals hate them for either voting for Stein (aka Putin's hand puppet) or not voting at all while screaming at others not to vote for dems.

I think most of those internet leftists have been brainwashed in a similar way as the Magas by foreign operatives posing as normal U.S. Americans along with pro-trump tech bros allowing propaganda on their platforms to suppress democratic turnout and help Trump win.

Maga and anti-democrat "leftists" are two ends of the horseshoe.

All too true.

I have had to hold my nose to vote for a candidate I don't LOVE before, but I certainly did it to keep out an even WORSE person (like on my local school board.) Our community, which is very Trumpy, surprisingly voted against a total conservative psycho with the moderates and liberals.

Those people suck. I am a FAR far far far far faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar left super-duper hippy-dippy tree-hugging liberal and they PISS ME OFF.
Fuck them for aiding and abetting getting tRump in office.

(Anonymous) 2025-06-18 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
You are absolutely right. Every vote that was for Kamala was a true vote against Trump. Anything else was a waste of a vote, and there are people too blinded by their righteousness to see that. It’s infuriating.

(Anonymous) 2025-06-18 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
Those people are so far left they've circled back around to the right.

(Anonymous) 2025-06-22 05:40 am (UTC)(link)
They did a 360.

Centre / centre right by the current overton window and obviously this attitude irritates me too but it also scares me because those people don't think of themselves as extremists.

And I don't dig on the version of the right wing that does the same thing "Can't vote trump, he soft on gun rights, pro isreal, pro LGBT, wishy washy on abortion, scared of china and russia, doesn't have the stones to take us to war." and I'm like "My brother in christ, the candidate you want is currently serving in ISIS..."

And THEY think they're the normal voice of the silent majority as well. And I'll tell you that TERRIFIES me. Because what if either side is RIGHT? What if I'm wrong? Both sides would all me a far left / far right extremist. I can live with the existance of these people better than I can live with the possibility I AM one of these people and simply don't know it.

It's why I don't block people. It takes too points of reference to establish a position. You got to know first hand what the extremes of both sides think so you can tell if you've slipped into extremism yourself. As long as the far left hate me for being a racist homophobe Trump fan, and the far right hate me for being a zionist abortionist, gun grabber trump fan, I'm more or less doing ok.

(Anonymous) 2025-06-18 08:33 am (UTC)(link)
I'm sorry, what was that? Centre?? What is that word?
thewakokid: (Default)

[personal profile] thewakokid 2025-06-18 08:49 am (UTC)(link)
Its the correct spelling of center.

(Anonymous) 2025-06-22 05:40 am (UTC)(link)
The British, Canadian, Kiwi, and Aussie way to spell center.

(Anonymous) 2025-06-18 08:26 am (UTC)(link)
I feel like that over those who refused to throw themselves behind Bernie, and went for the no hoper named Hillary.

Welcome to the shoe being on the other foot. I hope you enjoy the fit, and remember it next time an election comes around. No more fascists, especially former cops in politics.

(Anonymous) 2025-06-18 01:19 pm (UTC)(link)
You're the problem. In the primary, fine, but once the general election comes around you hold your fucking nose and vote the dem. MORON.

(Anonymous) 2025-06-18 02:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Hillary had a far better chance of winning the election than Bernie. I know you don't want to accept that, but it's true.

In the meantime, you might want to reflect on why you let your misogyny and racism get in the way of doing your civic duty.

(Anonymous) 2025-06-18 04:45 pm (UTC)(link)
If Bernie's chances were shot to hell in the primary, what chance did you think he'd have in the general election? Most people who vote general and not in the primary are less politically involved, often more center/moderate, and/or have their relatives vote for them.

(Anonymous) 2025-06-18 04:46 pm (UTC)(link)
SA And if you're relying on third party voters to make up the difference - many of them aren't even leftist or progressive.

(Anonymous) 2025-06-18 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Bernie Bros stop whining their no-hope candidate fucking lost challenge: LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE.

He couldn't even win enough votes to primary her, why the fuck do you think he was going to win against Trump!?

(Anonymous) 2025-06-18 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Fuck Bernie, he's part of the problem. He's a selfish old rich man.
