NTtD was so bad because it flat out told you to ignore all other Bond movies.

Whether you wanted to or not. It is a classic Torch the Franchise and Run movie.

Did people not think that Casino Royale effectively did that first?

That was definitely the point where I went “oh, we’re not doing loosey-goosey continuity anymore, we’re fully starting over with a new version of these characters”. (And yes, I know Judi Dench was back as M, but everyone seemed to treat that as a fun connection rather than as an indicator that Craig’s Bond shared any canon or continuity with Brosnan’s Bond, much less earlier versions.)

I love Casino Royale with Daniel Craig. I love the action and the ridiculousness of the fact they are playing card games to stop terrorist organizations from getting money (wait basically like Yu-Gi-Oh and playing card games to save the world, LOL). idk, I thought Daniel Craig bond films were fine.

Oh, me too! I really enjoyed that film. And I was a bit disappointed with the subsequent Craig Bond films, but I still think there was good stuff in many of them.

I didn’t mean what I said as a criticism. I actually think it was a good move to draw a clear line.

I was mostly surprised and confused that people were treating No Time to Die like it did this shocking thing to Bond continuity. I wasn’t necessarily expecting his death at the end, but I was always expecting a hard reset whenever Daniel Craig finished his run. Or maybe a non-Bond 007. But not a new Bond actor thats nebulously part of the same universe.

Wait, your criticism is valid though.

I am not the biggest Bondfan, but my family is so I've seen a lot of bond films even though I think my family likes Sean Connery run as Bond from what I understood. I liked Daniel Craig because it gave something far more fresh. I enjoyed Casino Royale and Skyfall for sure. I think Quantum of Solace bored me in the sense of the storyline for me personally. No Time to Die was okay but I think it's mostly because I didn't want Daniel Craig to finish as Bond (or to die, lol) but like I get why he wanted to leave and give the mantle to someone else.

I guess people who started watching Bond specifically with Daniel Craig as Bond probably didn't understand the reset which tends to happen to Bond over the years.
