You know, I've always assumed "FandomSecrets" meant secrets from and within fandom. Like the fandom opinions that would get you ostracized or mocked etc. I honestly never thought about it being "fandom as a topic" secrets, but you make a good case. I can definitely see how any fandom opinion could be a secret if you don't have fandom friends or are really in fandom.

It's "Fandom" Secrets. As in things you're supposedly embarrassed to tell the fandom. That's the original purpose of this place.

Personally, I’m happy to see any fandom-related secrets.

And mine have generally been a mix… fannish things that I can’t share in my (limited) fandom circles, fannish things I don’t even have fandom circles for and are secret from my actual friends, fannish things I’m just generally ashamed or embarrassed by, etc.

I think that some people have a skewed perspective of how mainstream fandom is, and assume it's like that for everyone, everywhere. Like sure, it's more mainstream than it was 20 years ago. But being hardcore into fandom is still pretty niche. People just forget that it is, because fandom can be such a weird echo chamber and people end up normalizing stuff that isn't really considered normal by the general population.

And frankly, some people just aren't great with the social skills or intelligence, so they don't understand why you wouldn't proudly talk a co-worker or your cousin's ear off about your OTP or go on an hour long meta discussion.

I've honestly come around to shrugging off such comments to secrets of mine.

I submitted the secret because it's fandom related and I have no one to tell. That's enough for me.

I quite enjoy AMV's but not everything appeals to everyone and that's cool. I've never cared for fandom or ship playlists myself.

These recent Seinfeld secrets baffle me. The humor of the show is based in 90s absurdism. (A lot like South Park.) The deaths were considered funny because they were ridiculous. It just seems like a weird take that misunderstands the whole premise and style of the show.

I just wanted to vent about English people still saying Oliver Cromwell was good guy who never committed genocide, and never acted like a tyrannical religious fanatic and dictator. And a massive hypocrite too. And then things escalated real quick. So, sorry about that.

English people are dumb about English history, Cromwell is a wrong 'un, and nothing is happening elsewhere in the world germane to this statement. Are we clear?
