OP here, I am genuinely glad you are having fun. I really don't want them to not exist, I just find them weirdly triggering and hate that they keep popping up. But that's my own issue to deal with, hence the secret for venting.

I feel the same, and you aren't the only trans person that feels this way. So much trans content feels like its from people who are just... young, or newly out, or see identity as an "ooh! shiny!" type thing instead of just another aspect of yourself. I *want* to like a lot of trans content in my fandom, but a lot of it feels more like a political tract instead of "hey, wouldn't it be interesting if [canon character] was trans" and exploring how it would affect their backstory if applicable. Don't get me started on how it's taboo to express not wanting to see it in smut too. Not everyone likes PIV or breeding or omegaverse tropes, personally when it comes to transcanons I wish there was more T4T stuff instead of "this ship conveniently has different genitals and they might get pregnant" triggering stuff.

(Not saying it shouldn't exist, I'm profic. But it's not -phobic to not be into this *kink*.)

See, that sort of content sounds interesting!

Just like, 'What if Stiles was bitten instead of Scott' in Teen Wolf, or 'What if Leia grew up on Tatooine instead of Luke' in Star Wars - it can make a very interesting dynamic shift and can have a lot of effect on the story.

Getting half way through a fic, and suddenly Harry Potter gets changed after Quidditch practice and starts soaping up boobies however, is a little jarring and a totally different scenario.

I’m curious if you generally don’t like reading about trans characters at all or if there’s also the fact that in my experience a lot of “trans head canon” blogging or fanfic is focused on transitioning and transphobia.

This made me think about it, and I'm interested in canon trans characters and there are certain characters that I can personally see as trans who are more interesting that way, but I'm totally uninterested in reading other random people's trans headcanons for the same character.

I am generally uninterested in any "character explores self-identity" fic though.

I'm the same as well. I've been living the transition for nearly 10 years now, I don't want to read about it in fic. I really just don't. Not even the one exception out of 100 wild hot takes that just don't get it.

I'm trans and don't want to deal with non-canon trans problems being projected onto characters I like.

I wish it was all tagged so I never had to see another set of mastectomy scars or a surprise vagina. I love these characters, I don't want to see them with my problems, it's why I like fandom escapism.

I feel the same way and I'm trans as well. It might not bother me so much if the quality of the stories wasn't so lame or it wasn't stealthing in heterosexuality where one of the partners has a vagina and gets knocked up because PIV is apparently the only way a transman can have sex.

I'm very happy not reading trans themed fics at all and whenever I'm in an exchange I make sure to say that I don't want trans themes in the story because I don't trust someone to write about it in a way that doens't annoy me.

Same here and I'm trans too. Doesn't help alot of them are blatant fetishes (eg most ftm headcanons either give the characters grotesque bulging chest scars or emphasize boobs and butts. MTF ones emphasize the characters masculine traits and/or penises) and they low key trigger my dysphoria

I am not trans, but I don't want to deal with vaginas and pregnancy because I would very much like not to deal with mine. So I am rarely into any kind of smut featuring vaginas even though I ship f/f and het.
But also I am not interested in my identity fics (ace). I do not want reading all "they are not interested in sex and it's alright" or "talk this through". I want this guys to fuck, that is all.

Also I've rarely seen decently written ace women fics.

I enjoy speculation on which characters can be Ace in fandom, but I have never looked for fics about characters being Ace. And I honestly never wad interested in any I happen to come across.
