I think it's really offensive how many (clearly insecure and kind of narcissistic) people in fandom weaponize bigotry in order to cajole others into liking what they like. They are taking a point of real suffering and applying it to their personal preferences, appropriating the language oppression for personal gain.

Well yeah, people do it in general. They'll also say you're homophobic, misogynistic, racist, etc for not liking what they like.
