See, that sort of content sounds interesting!

Just like, 'What if Stiles was bitten instead of Scott' in Teen Wolf, or 'What if Leia grew up on Tatooine instead of Luke' in Star Wars - it can make a very interesting dynamic shift and can have a lot of effect on the story.

Getting half way through a fic, and suddenly Harry Potter gets changed after Quidditch practice and starts soaping up boobies however, is a little jarring and a totally different scenario.

Yep, yep.

My fandom in particular is in a fantasy setting with no modern technology, so I always thought it was a cool possibility to explore on top of how same-sex relationships would be treated. How would transition and surgery work, would it be in the form of magic or an archaic form of HRT injections? Would magic transition resemble the way hormonal transition does in real life, or would it result in having your bodily sex changed? Could magic be used as anesthetic and whatnot for surgeries? Or would this be closer to how transgender people existed before the medical establishment, would it be a matter of presentation via clothing and makeup while going stealth, and only their partners and close friends would know about their trans status? How would nonbinary genders be recognized or defined?

But nope. It's always modern politics inserted in a fantasy world, "this character is [list of labels]" without elaboration, cisheteronormative porn, etc. I know this stuff exists in a small margin, but it's kind of why I blacklist these tags now.
