How open are you IRL about fandom things? To put it in nerd terms, how much do you hide your power level?

I talk about enjoying things with people. I don't tend to talk about shipping. But I have some people in my life who are at least somewhat nerdy and we talk about such things sometimes.

My dad and I talked a lot about Tolkien and details and stuff. Definitely not about shipping, though. He would have been horrified by my tastes.

My friends and family know I'm a nerd (aka play video games and read nerdy books etc) but I don't talk about fic or memes or anything with them.

I do have certain friends in my friends circle that are also in fandom (not the same ones as me) and we talk about fandom all the time.

Not particularly, except with my sister and BIL. One of the games we play is me going to a fandom and having them guess the biggest ships on Ao3. Lol.

Yesssssss, I don’t know Wrestling but when watching a TV show I’ll open AO3 and have her guess. It’s so much fun!!!

Very open. My wife writes fanfic and my best friend's mom sometimes asks me for AO3 recs.

My gf is nerdy but not fandom nerdy, as in she doesn’t read fanfic or write it but she knows what it is, but her ballpark is knowing lore about the video games she loves. Elden Ring and the Final Fantasy games are Her Jam.

So she knows about my fandom nerdyness in that I read and write fanfic and she’s helped me come up with fic ideas before and sometimes will read though them to help me if I’m stuck. We’ll also play ‘what are the top ships in X fandom’ or she’ll guess what I ship in a show/movie for fun.

A few of my friends know that I’m generally in fandom but not specifics, my bff knows I write fic but it took me years to admit it, lol. And I think my dad knows I’m fandom nerdy, but he is too so it’s his fault lol.

I don't hide the fact that I'm into some things. The degree to which I am into it, as in, weird fandom shit.... well, that's all disclosed by, uh, degree of my company's fannishness. Casual fan? Sure, I like x media. Rooting for a ship? I might comment on it but will say nothing of the fanfiction I write. Going to a con in your homemade full costume, or because you've been crazy about some series since you were a kid? I might be a little more open about how weird I am.

Not at all. I am not SECRETIVE about it and you will find out if you stalk enough but since anime is usually regarded as the realm of gooner teen boys not boring 30+ ladies and rarely associated with anything good I don’t exactly advertise it either.

I indicate that I'm aware of fandom and that it exists, but I don't admit to writing fanfiction to my family, and I'd never let that mix with work stuff because that's too personal for me.
