Re: Vent thread, for all your venting needs

My feet are sore, and I'm pretty sure it's because I work remotely and write/do fandom as a hobby, meaning I probably sit more than is healthy. But because my feet have been sore, I haven't been moving around as much.

Any advice? I also have sciatica.

You should talk to your doctor about it.

Otherwise, maybe just try to work a little more standing into your routine and build up very slowly and carefully. Have very comfy shoes while you do this or an anti-fatigue foot mat or both, when you stand.

Is the soreness in your feet caused by the sciatica? Do you know what the root cause is?

You might want to try looking up exercises aimed towards people who aren't very mobile, i.e. chair exercises or something like that, just to start off. Then re-evaluating proper footwear for when you do move around is a good idea. The older I get, the less I'm able to tolerate cheap shoes. It makes my feet sore, and also makes my back hurt.

How old are your shoes? Do they have any padding? Shoes are only meant to last 6 months or so, not the years we all do.

Look up sciatica exercises and try to include them.
Also make an alarm to remind yourself to move a little. Nothing hard - just standing up, doing some light stretching, moving for couple of minutes and going back to work/writting
