Well, that's certainly a strong take on things. Not one I agree with at all.

I’m so out of the loop I don’t even know in what way Star Trek is ending and that in itself is kinda sad.

(Anonymous) 2025-06-29 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Same. I honestly had no idea any of these were ending.

(Anonymous) 2025-06-29 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
They aren't.

(Anonymous) 2025-06-29 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Doctor Who is back on hiatus until the Beeb can get another partner, since the Disney deal is over.

Star Trek is ending SNW, and LD, DSC, Pic, and Pro, and S31 have all ended. The proposed Academy series is on hold until after the Skydance deal can be worked out. And the Kelvinverse Fourth movie is in perpetual development hell.

For all practical intents and purposes, they are over for the time being. Certainly for the next few years until the franchise can be rebooted. And none of them, LD, and SNW-possibly, exempted went out on a high.

It isn't official that the Disney deal is over, those are still just rumors. And it shouldn't be too hard to find another partner if so. It is Doctor Who.

Star Trek is ending the current shows but has plans for new ones. It may take a little time, but it isn't dead. Just pausing briefly.,

Star Wars is continuing, there is no evidence it is stopping.

(Anonymous) 2025-06-29 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I mean this as a genuine question, what makes you think it's ending? At least for Star Wars since it's the only one I'm truly familiar with, and it doesn't really feel like anything ended, tbh.

(Anonymous) 2025-06-29 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Judging by their above comment, OP seems to take current tv shows reaching their end or some sort of change happening with no immediate plans made known to the public to mean ending.

(Anonymous) 2025-06-29 08:59 pm (UTC)(link)
They'redefenitely all going to be revived in the future.

(Anonymous) 2025-06-29 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Hence "current era".

(Anonymous) 2025-06-29 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Some people seem confused about the phrase "current eta" and seem to think that means permanent.

(Anonymous) 2025-06-29 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
*era not eta.

Damn autocorrect

(Anonymous) 2025-06-29 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
okay but "current eta" is a hilarious typo for this particular discussion

(Anonymous) 2025-06-30 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
The secret doesn’t say current era, though. It says modern era, implying a prolonged period without any new material until after cultural shifts take place. And we know that isn’t true for at least two of them.

(Anonymous) 2025-06-30 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
That seems like a pedantic difference without a difference interpretation you have. You've clearly grasped the concept behind the typo.

The modern or current era of the shows is coming to an end, and they are all going to be pausing for a while before a retooling or rebooting or refocusing, whatever "re" you want to use to mark the shows pausing before going off in a different direction in search of a bold new audience to replace the ones that have fallen away. You've grasped the concept, you agree with the concept, you just don't like the concept.

(Anonymous) 2025-06-30 02:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Nayrt but no. Modern era means a specific thing in these fandoms and it's not what you suggest.

(Anonymous) 2025-06-30 06:25 pm (UTC)(link)
It is exactly what it is I don't know what you think it is.

(Anonymous) 2025-06-30 07:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Modern era and current era aren’t the same thing. Modern is much broader than current. For instance, 2015 media is modern. There has been little change in how media is produced, delivered, the common themes, and audience attitudes. Current era is much narrower and current is a specific time: it’s happening right now. It’s happening within the modern era but it isn’t all of the modern era.

Sure, Jan

(Anonymous) 2025-06-30 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
Weirdly dismissive.

(Anonymous) 2025-06-30 05:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I don’t know how I feel about doctor who ending though because while I like the new run of doctor who but I stopped watching around 12 I think.

Also, I remember watching oldWho and loving Dalek falling down gag joke.
