And never forget that slapping a vagina on guys and making them FtM who bottom can help people avoid writing icky anal that they find gross and disgusting! At the same time they can get the progressive badge of honour for writing a character whose transness is only shown in the genitalia, no other gender discussion or exploration needs to happen because as long as it is sexy nobody notices their thinly veiled homophobia!

The amount of homophobic trans people and transphobic gay people I've seen - if not even parts of the community are consistent, why do you expect others to be?

Yeah. A lot of gay people do not like or want to be associated with trans people, and a lot of historical trans organizations in the US and UK actively kept out gays. Fred Sargeant was at Stonewall and the early pride marches, and he has been vocal about all of this.
