What are your non-bread breakfast ideas?

Trying to find some. Also, what other stuff would you put in a smoothie with chocolate almond milk, vanilla greek yogurt, and bananas?

Honestly I really love just doing fruit and nuts for breakfast. A little sweet, a little protein, fast and easy.

I prefer savory breakfasts, and my go-to is a hard-boiled egg with halved cherry tomatoes and cheese cubes.

My go to breakfast food is hard boiled eggs. I make em by the dozen, pop them back into their carton, then just grab one out each morning.

For your smoothie, I bet it would be amazing if you added blueberries or peanut butter/peanut butter powder. Raw spinach also weirdly goes really well with chocolate. Cashews are another great option and even a couple tablespoons of quinoa would be a nice choice for subtly changing flavors while adding a protein boost. If you’re new to smoothie making, I recommend playing around with the ratios a lot. I found cutting back on the yogurt, using half a banana instead of a whole one, and adding ice was the right mix for me. It was more economical too but the main thing was that it cut way back on how much sugar I consumed.

I have a protein shake for breakfast. Boring. It's just a chocolate protein powder, some peanut butter powder, chia seeds, and water. I drink it throughout the morning.

Your smoothie seems pretty good as-is, but some off the top of my head ideas you could try adding: ice, pb or pb powder, protein powder, chia seeds, psyllium husk, hemp hearts, fruit, maybe some spinach (I find it doesn't change the flavor much but opinions vary). Obvi not all of the above, but you could mix and match what works for you.

Apple slices with peanut butter, or a chopped up tomato drizzled with olive oil.

Strawberries, mango, pineapple, raspberries, blueberries, cherries, apple (if your blender is tough enough), peaches, plums...basically, any fresh or frozen fruit you can get your paws on.
I make a smoothie most mornings with chocolate protein powder, plain greek yogurt, blueberries, strawberries, banana, pineapple and mango (the latter frozen). Makes a lovely, thick, fruity smoothie. The frozen fruit helps thicken it.

Alternately, eggs with some salsa and cheese and spinach.

Anything involving eggs or yogurt, really.

Maybe add some flax or chia in that smoothie? Idk.

I had a really kickass slice of veggie quiche the other day and haven't stopped thinking about it, so quiche gets my vote. Unless the crust counts as bread, in which case: frittata time!

I like spices in my smoothies, particularly clove, cinnamon, or cardamom. Also real vanilla extract - I don't bother with vanilla when I'm baking because I can't really taste it in the end result, but it holds its own in smoothies. Fresh blueberries and peaches also mix well, and I don't think they'd conflict with chocolate almond milk.

As for what to have for breakfast that isn't bread ... the most straightforward thing to make is eggs, and basically anything you have in your fridge and feel like reheating can work. I had cheese melted over brisket with a dollop of guacamole for breakfast today, and it was really good.

I gravitate towards fruit or yogurt for breakfast. Usually, I can't eat heavy breakfast.

I usually have slow cooked steel cut oats with dark chocolate and peanut butter. Now that it's summer, I should probably switch to overnight oats in the fridge (still with dark chocolate and peanut butter).

Oatmeal, yogurt with fruit and granola, Chinese style rice porridge with whatever toppings you want, some kind of frittata with ham and vegetables, leftovers of dinner. Do you count tortillas as bread? Breakfast burritos would be nice. Scrambled eggs and cheese and scallions/herbs. Mushroom omelet. Corned beef hash.

Re: the smoothie, maybe some greens if you can stomach it, or something like ground flax seed for fiber. Cinnamon perhaps?
