There's a subreddit that would have a field day with this.

I buy ebooks almost exclusively but anything I really love, I also order a hard copy version. They’re all pristine and it’s actually kinda silly but I love having them. And it’s come in handy more than once because of changes made after the fact by authors or publishers. It feels like there’s a trend of changing the canon on subsequent printings instead of fixing errors.

I pirate games for similar reasons, I already bought the thing and I want a separate copy that can't have its license revoked for whatever reason

Yeah, I buy an ebook and then download a pirated copy. I've already had books that I'd paid for revoked twice and fuck that.

Troll.

I'd say your comment is more identifying as a troll than anything OP said.

+1

How? I've done this before too. I don't see an issue when OP has legally bought the product anyway.

Okay, the "doesn't have same day shipping" is one of the most ridiculous things I've read lately. Is that seriously where you're at, that you can't wait a single second so you're like "eh, stealing it is!"?

I mean, I'm not against pirating per se, I just think you're reasoning is funny.

+1000

I have a friend who has been drowning in debt for years. Like, more $$ going out than coming in, 20k on her credit card, borrowed against her 401k debt. I have been telling her for years to dump the audible and get her audiobooks from the library (and basically every streaming service because our local library is fucking amazing with so many video and audio apps for movies and tv and music). But she refused every time because she didn't want to wait. I even offered to pirate her shit for her, but nope. That would take too long.

Every individual is allowed to do whatever they want with the books they purchase but it always makes me a little sad to know books are being purchased and never opened.
