I could basically have written this secret. I really liked the idea of her being something different, especially after Ruby and Fifteen felt so similar to each other. Having someone who doesn’t want to be on an adventure or has a real need to go back home could have given her a different perspective and given the two of them a different dynamic.

And then, like so much about the recent series, the things I liked on paper or in the abstract were executed in ways I didn’t enjoy at all.

Why is this a secret? It's a rare thing most of the Doctor Who fandom agrees on.

Because at least the loudest part of the fandom is being the typical dickish, "anti-woke" way about it.

I'm very glad I fell asleep a few eps into Eleven's run and never bothered to pick up the franchise again. This sounds dire even by NuWho's standards.

I just wanted her to go home to her parents and her own life. And it was super gross to give her a child she didn't want with a guy that was such an asshole towards her. I have no idea why they went with that ending, but there's so much I hated about the last few episodes. Like, why bring back two iconic villains only to waste them? And what was the point of Susan's cameo?

The ending was extensively reshot after Ncuti decided to leave. Apparently the original ending included The Doctor and Belinda dancing at a celebration party, and then we'd see Susan say "let's go, mum" to baby Poppy.

We know that the party was originally shot, because of a photo used by Disney+ that does not match any location or outfits in the final cut of the last episode. The bit about Susan and Poppy was said by the child actor's mother.

Honestly, it seems like seasons 14 and 15 were just an overall clusterfuck with Ruby leaving but not really, Belinda being such an inconsistent character and then that ending being clearly slapped together. There was only a few months between the end of filming season 14 and the start of filming season 15, so I'm guessing there was a lot of hasty re-writing.
