How much do you sweat?

(Anonymous) 2025-07-27 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I feel like I sweat an abnormal amount. I didn't before maybe a few years ago, though. I've always been a little bit heat sensitive, but I could walk for miles without having to hop in the shower as soon as I got home. Now even a short walk - like walking the dog around a few blocks in the summer has me soaked in sweat. Even at night, when it's cooler, or when I'm doing things inside, unless it's in an air-conditioned part of the house.

It's obviously better in the winter, but I still usually have to change my shirt as soon as I get home, because the armpits are completely wet.

Is this normal? Is it related to weight gain?

Depending on where you are in your life cycle, it could also be related to ageing.

It could be due to a lot of different things. Weight gain, hormone changes, internal inflammation, autoimmune disorders, too much sugar in your diet, and probably at least two dozen other things.

Quite a bit. I don't know if it is abnormally a lot, but I do sweat a lot, and it smells pretty bad or so I've been told. I wear body deodorant as well as the regular kind. Summer is extra bad.

I think I sweat less than normal. I don't really have a point of comparison.

I've always been a person who doesn't deal well with the heat, and yeah, lots of sweating. Not usually to the point where my clothes are drenched, but frankly, that's due to the fact that I avoid physical exertion. Temps above 75 F are too hot, IMO. Above 80 the sweating begins in earnest even if I'm not doing anything strenuous. If I'm outside in the heat hiking or something, I try to bring a towel or it'll just run down my face into my eyes, soaking my shirt, etc.

75F?? Oh no, if it hits 65F, I'm uncomfortable. I would thrive in year-round 55F temps.

SO MUCH

I sweat so much and it isn't just in the heat, I sweat in the cold too. Its annoying but at this point I'm used to it.

I was a sweat machine through periomenopause. Seems to have leveled off a bit now. The night sweats were the worst, waking up literally soaked.

I used to sweat a ton when weight lifting. Then I started a med, and now I sweat a ton when weight lifting and when getting hot flashes during sleep. Ugh.

I'm fat and I don't sweat much. I'm also very bad at dealing with heat, so maybe that's related.

I sweat an absurd amount, even in cold weather. It's actually ridiculous. I absolutely dread the summer because I'm too scared to wear light colours for fear of visible stains and have to shower twice a day to feel anywhere near comfortable being around people.

I think I sweat a normal amount. I do notice that I sweat a lot more around my face a lot more now than I did when I was younger. It became noticeable when I hit my 30s.

I get warm/sweaty in my sleep much more since I hit my late 30s, so even with A/C on (or during colder months I need a fan blowing directly toward my body to feel cool enough to sleep through the night.

A tip I got recently with being stinky is to use Panoxyl under your armpits (and for me under my boobs and between my thighs) when showering). It helps kill off bacteria that feeds off sweat that causes BO. It doesn't stop sweating but it does help keep BO stench from getting too strong.
