The supposed moral-center/good-guy protagonist who is actually just really self-absorbed. Though the show narrative keeps telling you they are righteous, their shown actions are often not great and somewhat damaging to the people around them and are sometimes pretty despicable and kind of devastating, even if the show writers don't seem to realize the implications. See Dawson Leery, Ross Gellar, Ted Mosby, Scott McCall, Meredith Grey, etc.

Sometimes they don't start out that way and grow into it, sometimes it's lurking there in the background from the start but it takes a while to realize it, and sometimes it just seems like fairly normal bouts of self-interest up until it hits some saturation point. I really don't like it when it becomes clear in retrospect.
