I mean, they’re not very good fans if they view Joe as someone to be heartbroken over. There’s having your own interpretation of something and then there’s missing the whole point of it. There were a lot of very vocal fans for that show that could most kindly be described as dangerously stupid.

For real. The entire point of his character is that he only gets away with what he does for so long because he's attractive and charming. He's objectively an awful person.

This entire comment section is bizarre. Isn't it a given in fandom that in the case of characters like this, we know the intent behind them and self-awarely throw it out the window because it's fine to disregard how horrible a character is when they're not real?

I think you’re missing the part where the fandom behaved as if the actors felt the same way they did. Go ahead and have your fantasies and write fic and do whatever in your fandom, but don’t expect everyone else to feel the same way. Secret OP is delusional for thinking that the actor is the one in the wrong in this exchange.
