What is the most off the wall fandom thing you've seen recently?

Someone told me "I can't believe people ship Destiel! Castiel isn't even human." Like...is that the most offensive thing you've seen in a fandom? Is this your first fandom? Wait until you hear about the second most popular supernatural ship.

I've been seeing a lot of variations of "how dare you make A/B in (popular shonen series) gay? They're just friends and there's something seriously wrong with you for making them gay!". Funnily enough, I haven't seen this under F/F pairings, only M/M ones.

Occasionally I see someone wonder why people ship anything that isn't canon, or say people shouldn't ship anything that isn't canon.

As for them, wait until they hear about how the term "shipping" was coined!

"Gay people being 'het-phobic' and women forcing slash fic everywhere and people being mean to me in fandom (not because I make homophobic remarks, but because I, the superior person, prefer het fics, unlike those dirty fujoshi) makes it okay for me to be homophobic and it's THEIR fault!"

The number of people in some fandoms acting like het shippers are some type of persecuted minority is WILD.

The age-gap discourse is getting ridiculous, with people advertising "major age gaps" between a woman in her late 30s and a man in his mid 40s and freaking out over sophomores dating seniors. Not even going to bring up that my 2 personal comfort ships are between a 19 year old paired with a 6000+ year old, and a 23 year old dating a 37 year old, in this environment.

And it's fully left fandom containment as well. The number of times I've read on AITA or relationshipadvice subreddits that an age gap of 5 years is clearly problematic (and were talking legal adults here, not 17 and 22 or something) is insane.
