Accomplishments, big or small

[personal profile] iff_and_xor 2025-07-31 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)

Anything you’ve gotten done lately that you feel good about, even if it seems small?

(I’m trying to feel good about finally cleaning out my freezer and starting on a serious backlog of laundry.)

I got the laundry that was sitting on my floor for over a month washed! Now, of course, it's probably going to sit for another month, slowly being whittled down, and never actually folded. But at least it's clean.

I'm finally working on my warhammer summerfest piece! It's coming along super well and I hope my recipient likes it. :D

I picked up a lot of groceries, including the ingredients to make a lot of lemon cupcakes, and took them all back home on a bus. And I have a screwed up leg.

Got 3 bond motions filed this week and two motions to terminate cases that should not be in immigration court at all. And 1 asylum form filed and a bunch of documents put together for that case. Hopefully I'll file those tomorrow.

I got a sick and injured wild animal to a rescue today. It is blind from a disease and got injured sometime recently. I don’t know if it can be saved, I’ll find out next week. Hopefully it can live a happy life at the rescue center but if not, at least it won’t have to suffer anymore.

Well, get to feeling good because those are big accomplishments!

I made a vegetable curry today. Not a huge deal, granted, but there is quite a bit of prep, so it's not something I make on the regular.

Took the plumbing apart under the kitchen sink and cleaned out this gruesome, ratty lump of greasy...stuff that was making it drain really slow. Put it all back together and no leaks!

Ooh congratulations about cleaning out the freezer! That's a chore that's been haunting me for months.

I hack-squat 365 pounds the other day and am still riding that high. I think I can do 400 next week.

I wrote a story! 1k or orig fic for a writing group prompt. My first story for six months. (I've been in and out of hospital.) I'm so proud of myself.

*been working out at least 5 days a week for the last 3 weeks, short workouts but I've never been good at sticking to workouts; also been able to workout longer every day, one minute at a time; have been able to walk at least half a mile for past 3 days!!
*stopped smoking for the past week
*haven't used marijuana for the past week

The smoking and weed wasn't intentional in that I was like "starting today I will stop smoking/getting high forever!" It was more I ran out of weed, and I thought to myself I didn't want to go buy any due to feeling too lazy to go. That in turn made me realize I didn't want to get high. Which is a little surprising to me. I've been getting high almost daily for years.

Which lead me to think that I've always thought I have an addictive personality but maybe not as much as I thought. I do get cravings to get high every now and then but overall this "I'm over it" feeling takes over instead.

(Freezer is such a bitch, so congrats)

Not exactly feeling good, but didn't die from falling from escalator through panic attack (we have famously long escalators. Person in front of me suddenly moved and next one was almost at the bottom. My brain went into full panic-we-are-falling-mode. It sucks HARD)

Also I am slowly but still moving with learning After Effects, I am happy about it

Things you Miss from Childhood

[personal profile] philstar22 2025-07-31 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Are there things from your childhood or child things in general that you miss?

Inspired by me thinking today how much I used to love swings and how fun it would be to be in one again if I wasn't a fat adult woman who would break it if I tried.

This is wild because just the other day I was thinking how much I'd love to play on a jungle gym again. My childhood one looked like this:

I was like "wow that was a great way to exercise" but ironically I'd break one, too, if I tried to use it for exercise. And/or break bones.

Along the same vein, I miss roller skating rinks.

I miss trampolines. I'd probably hurt myself on one at my age. I also miss Rice Krispies Treats and Kaboom cereal.

My dogs.
A bunch of different foods they don't make anymore.
Bike riding.
I've mentioned this before but two TV shows I loved as a kid that aren't on video at all, Tomfoolery and Curiosity Shop. I've only seen a few eps online of the former and one very blurry black and white ep of the latter on youtube.

Oh, I used to love swings as a child. I remember reading about some parks that had swings especially built for adults. Maybe I’ll see if there’s any around here or near my parents when I go visit. It’s been so long I don’t know if I’d still enjoy it or it might make me sick, but worth a shot.

Not having duties or responsibilities or bills. Swings.

My dad.

Climbing trees. It's rare to see a tree with sturdy enough branches to bear my weight now, that's on publicly accessible land AND low enough to the ground for me to reach.

Waking up from a good night's sleep feeling refreshed and excited to start the day. Similarly, falling asleep quickly and sleeping soundly all through the night.

Jello pudding pops.

Being relatively free of responsibilities.

What is the most off the wall fandom thing you've seen recently?

(Anonymous) 2025-08-01 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
Someone told me "I can't believe people ship Destiel! Castiel isn't even human." Like...is that the most offensive thing you've seen in a fandom? Is this your first fandom? Wait until you hear about the second most popular supernatural ship.

I hate being literally unable to comment on certain things and not knowing why. Is anyone else having this problem or just me?
