There is nothing wrong with liking villains and evil characters. There is something wrong with being creepy to the actual actors or any real people involved. Like the characters all you want. Don't tag the actor.

Man, shut the hell up. It's not being an "anti" to be like, yeah, that dude's bad news. Write whatever fanfiction you want of his character, but leave the actor alone. Keep fandom in fandom.

You can enjoy villains in fiction and write fanfics about it, and you can engage in discussing how the show is a commentary on how dangerous people charm and lie their way into relationships that end up abusive and even deadly.

Refusing to acknowledge that Joe is a walking red flag because he lies and manipulates his romantic interests and is a literal killer is similar to Breaking Bad fans lionizing Walter White for becoming a drug kingpin.
Yes, it's fun to get into the fictional fucked-up-ness of the show but at the same time you have to also think about how these sorts of things play into our real lives.

Because there are actual people who excuse abusive behaviors and try to normalize it by referring to fiction.

The defensive "don't shame my thought crimes!" is dangerous because it shuts down discourse.

Also, if you didn't want a lecture about this then don't go to the actor in the show seeking for approval from him.
