Much like modern AU fanfic, I like them when they're interesting and the genderswap actually makes a difference to the plot or characterization. Like if you genderswap Little Women then Meg and Jo would enlist. Anon above said "That would be a whole different person" but I love comparing different versions of the same thing so that's the fun of it.
