Unexpected LIkes

Are there things you did not expect to enjoy, but you ended up loving?

Ebooks/e-ink readers. I was a grouchy naysayer for a while, but now I'm dying with one of these things in my hands.

Same.

I tried them when they first came out and they did not work with my ADHD at all. It sounds stupid, but the slight delay in turning pages combined with the small page just made reading painful. So I was a naysayer for years after that experience. But lately I've been having trouble with my eyes and my Dr suggested an ereader and I finally gave in and oh boy am I glad I did. The upgrade from the original is huge. So much faster, with a bigger clearer screen, and reading is so nice and my eyes are so happy. I've been reading more than ever since I got mine in January. No going back!

YEAH i jumped from one of the first Kindle models to a Kindle Oasis and I swear to god that's been the best purchase in my entire life. I read on in every single night and it doesn't tire my eyes at all. Next time I'd like to go for an expensive non-kindle one, though. I heard that Kobo is quite good. In the meantime my Oasis is now 6 years now and still going strong.

Getting Kindle books in my second language and realizing that it has a dictionary feature that lets me tap on an unfamiliar word to make a definition pop up was honestly lifechanging for me. No more sitting there with a dictionary in my other hand!

Same. I held out for a long time but now I can't imagine reading paper books anymore. I have plenty that I need to read eventually, but ebooks are so much more convenient.

Same. I was a die hard 'paper books only' person until one day Amazon sent me a discount for a Kindle and now I love it and even bought a newer one with more storage. I still love physical books but it's nice to be able to buy new books without needing to worry about space, or to go on trips and bring just my Kindle rather than a stack of books like I used to when I was a kid.

Kindle for PC for me. My disability is that bad, I literally can't handle books, but the programme lets me keep on reading the books I've bought.

That's genuinely great to hear- for all of the junk that modern technology surrounds us with, it really is a boon for disabilities. Text chats in general, in my case, due to very bad ears.

Communication is so important too. It really opens up the world for people.

And thanks. There really are so many advantages to modern tech. A Japanese company brought out an exo-skeleton that helped a paraplegic guy walk a marathon. How amazing is that?

Beans! I hated beans as a kid.

Turns out, I just hate undercooked and unflavored things.

I hated beans as a kid because the only Taco Bell my mom would allow us to get were the beans and cheese burritos.

I hated cheese in most forms due to smell/taste sensitivity and the beans in the burritos were a paste in which I found disgusting.

For a long time I thought all beans would taste like gluey paste. It wasn't until I had (funnily enough) Chipotle for the first time did I realize beans are really tasty.

My mom really messed up my perception of food with those bean and cheese burritos lol

Death Stranding. I got it because it was acclaimed for it's story and because it was on deep, deep sale, but everyone said it was a glorified walking simulator so I went in with fairly low expectations on game play. I've done a couple of walking sims and basically found them mostly boring unless the story is really, really good. All those people calling DS a walking simulator fucking lieeeeeed. I'm 130 hrs in and having so much fun killing BTs and knocking out terrorists!

Back in 2014 my then 17 year old son insisted I play a mobile game he found and liked. I told him I wasn't into that kind of game but I gave it a try anyway. 11 years later one of us is still playing it and spoiler ... it's not him, lol. Summoners War Sky Arena. I don't recommend it but it is very pretty and has some cool monsters.

CSI. I was a child of the 70's and therefore completely burned out on cop shows. My best friend talked me into watching it and I love it.
