And yet, fandom is wild for it, weepy buttholes and all. I am genuinely baffled when people tell The Untamed fans that the novel is soooo much better and how awesome it is that the two leads have sex every day and then you read those embarrassingly bad sex scenes and wonder what the hell people are on.

There are aspects about the novel that I vastly prefer to the drama as well. The smut is not one of them. Then again, judging the whole novel based on two entirely optional extras is also kind of weird. And I've personally only seen people refer to the "Every day means every day" thing in a joking manner but I also wasn't hugely active in the fandom outside of one very small rarepair.

We like indulgent wish fulfillment. That's why a 3k smut fic written in 40 min at 1 am will get a shit ton more interaction than the 70k character analysis fic you spent a year working on.
