I haven't seen the new Superman either, but it's kind of weird to me that you think something can't have more than one theme. It's an adaptation, so whatever the screenwriter was influenced by made its way into the movie. The screenplay was written by James Gunn (also the director), a 59-year-old American man who did political cartoons for his university's student weekly. Are some of the original themes and other allusions to the bible in there? Very likely, yes, especially since he went to a Jesuit high school. Does that mean there can't also be an allegory about immigration? No. Also, that idea has been around for a lot longer than just this film.
