Someday I will properly internalize that other people use Reddit and other platforms very differently than I do.

I am still repeatedly baffled and embarrassing surprised at people who show up to a post with a discussion prompt and respond with the absolute minimum answer, which has already been commented multiple times.

I definitely understand commenting your answer with some elaboration to invite replies/discussion. I understand getting in fast with a popular answer to get upvotes. I even understand venting some sentiment into the void, knowing no one may read or answer. But just commenting “The Godfather” like a dozen previous people is so fundamentally alien to me.

I don't get that either. What about The Godfather? Talk!

Quite a while ago, someone on LJ told me that started giving the bare minimum because there was so much drama online when they tried having full conversations. Maybe that's the case for other people as well.
