This is kind of funny to me because when I saw the movie I just went "oh the engineer manipulated it and people on earth can't tell because her / Lex Luthor's technology is that advanced". (I mean. Wouldn't it be so heavily damaged/restored also be considered editing? It's not like it's a pristine original no matter how you slice it.) So yeah it sucked that Superman's faith in his birth parents was shaken but I just figured that it was an editing thing, especially once the ending just casually tosses his cousin in (did she not get her own instructions, or were they ALSO damaged/destroyed?)

So finding out via this secret that that's apparently supposed to be what his parents ACTUALLY said is just. lmfao. that's stupid. but a lot of things about the movie were kind of dumb. a fun watch though.

A lot of fans seem to still think the footage is doctored or that the Supergirl movie will refute it, but I've read interviews from Gunn where he just seemed perplexed that some people didn't buy it. Apparently Mr. Terrific also confirming its validity is the hint to the audience that it's real.

Didn't he only say that "experts" examined it, not that he himself confirmed it? Like he's shown to be pretty knowledgeable in what he does, so if what he does was also verifying video, sure. When it's "these other people said it" and a big part of the movie is the media getting the wrong take on things.........I think Gunn shot himself in the foot here lol
