12. I've seen very few situations where an anime series is better than the manga. Actually... I don't think I can name one off the top of my head. The Tokyo Mew Mew manga was so cute and I loved it, but the anime (the original, even) is rather boring and pales in comparison to me...

IMO, I think manga just does a better job of telling the story and fleshing out characters. Anime series are shiny because they have color and voices, but I prefer reading manga in most cases.

Kannazuki no Miko. Though the anime was 12 episodes long whereas the manga had like, two volumes.

...And the manga was mostly fanservice anyway. :x

I have a huge rant about why I hate the Sailor Moon anime in particular so much... It goes on and on. XD; Basically, the anime raped the stories and characters. Enough said.

Ouran Host Club. Anime is better than the manga by far.

But that's the only example I can think of. Unless Cowboy Bebop counts. The anime came first though.
