Ah ha, I am actually descended from Robert the Bruce (as are a huge number of people with Scottish ancestry) but you'd be going to find anyone descended from William Wallace, since he probably didn't have any children.

If they say something that shows they think it's historically accurate, pointing out it's not is fair. But the reason we think you're weird snobs with sticks up your asses is because you're so quick to assume we're stupid that you'll say "NOT HISTORICALLY ACCURATE" to someone who brings up the movie in any way at all.

DA from my experience "Americans are [insert insult]" is one of the most common deflections the English use to feel righteous in their discomfort
