What's an event or favor that flopped that you still think about?

Were you ever the one who flopped?

Oh yeah I have been flopping for a while. Wait, maybe that wasn't the question

I missed a meetup and didn’t let anyone know until halfway through when I saw my phone had been blowing up. But I had a legitimate emergency and I later blocked anyone who wasn’t understanding about it. In that situation I had nearly $1000 invested and it was covered under my travel insurance.

I’ve never gotten a prompt fill even when they were claimed. I prefer not having them claimed than the person flaking on me. I stopped participating in prompt exchanges a long time ago because of it.

Oh, this just reminded me I need to find a copy of the book my friends want to discuss Sept. 1!

The one fic fest where the author insisted on writing one of my squicks because they just couldn't imagine femdom without feet.

Also the fest where someone got pissed at my request and wrote the opposite in response. Specifically asked for James and Lily meeting up with Snape after finding out how he treated Harry. Got a fic where they meet him in heaven and Lily ends up dumping James and reaming him out and getting with Snape.

I admit, I've flopped out on a fic fest or two. Once it was because I ended up catching COVID and was unable to write. I do think I let them know in early enough time, though.

Wow, that's passive-aggressive! I understand sometimes the exchange matches didn't quite fit (I was once given someonewho wanted the opposite of what I said I'd write), so maybe that’s what happened, but then they should have asked to switch or dropped out. Better yet, just written your prompt anyway. Which actually sounds really interesting.

Did you say anything to the mods?

I was a part of a Fire Emblem horror zine and got really experimental with it - reality warping horror during the Siege of Garrag Mach (based on when my Switch overheated during a marathon gaming session and performance got slow, models glitched out, etc.) through Seteth's POV. Alternative text formatting, different fonts, the whole nine yards.

The editors did not contact me about any of it and spaced it out as if it was a regular fic. I did not have a chance to make suggestions or ask them to retain the edits before it was put in. I explicitly said to keep the formatting as specified. I'm still salty about it to this day.

LOL, I still think about Tumblr, Dashcon and the ball pit.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DashCon
https://www.reddit.com/r/HobbyDrama/comments/eo56jd/tumblr_the_infamous_dashcon/

I didn't go, but oh wow it was a great spectator sport of fandom fail.
