What also gets me is when you try giving people an out, and they insist "no, really, I'll have it by the weekend!" until you finally just give up on them.

I know one of the reasons it happens is that you really do mean to get around to it, and I know because I was that person. I still feel awful about it. You have to be honest with yourself. You're never going to do the thing.

What's an event or favor that flopped that you still think about?

Were you ever the one who flopped?

"It's just fandom!"

Yeah, and it's also just basic common courtesy to shoot one text to let people know "sorry something came up" so they're not waiting and relying on you to be there.

And no, it's not more polite to keep people's hopes up so they have to scramble to replace you at the end instead of replacing you mid-way with plenty of time to spare.

Oh yeah I have been flopping for a while. Wait, maybe that wasn't the question

It’s because Lego finally realized that adults were their biggest market share by far. Unfortunately they didn’t notice that until the pandemic and prices started jumping. The post Covid AFOL spaces are very different. There is very little creativity and instead it’s just people bragging about how much money they spent and how many unopened boxes they have. Sometimes they brag about being able to follow simple instructions.

They’ll never do Freddy Krueger but a clone brand got the rights for Freddy, Jason, and Michael Myers.

Oh my god, I can’t believe a Pride and Prejudice adaptation by Netflix isn’t true to the source material! I’m absolutely shocked that they didn’t get the period clothing right, I had such high expectations for this! /s

I get it. I really do. But also: this is exactly why no one likes Austen fans. Instead of wishing for a faithful adaptation or discussing the things you like about Austen, you all whine and shit all over adaptations for which you’re obviously not the target audience. That’s pretty much your individual and collective identities at this point. It makes me so happy knowing this will rack up millions of viewing hours despite the fandom being entitled assholes about it.

I missed a meetup and didn’t let anyone know until halfway through when I saw my phone had been blowing up. But I had a legitimate emergency and I later blocked anyone who wasn’t understanding about it. In that situation I had nearly $1000 invested and it was covered under my travel insurance.

I’ve never gotten a prompt fill even when they were claimed. I prefer not having them claimed than the person flaking on me. I stopped participating in prompt exchanges a long time ago because of it.

Aw this is kinda endearing <3 I’ve skipped most of his work just because I want the spooky supernatural thing to actually be a spooky supernatural thing. I love being scared by movies but slasher films don’t do it for me.

I think there will always be few times Regency fans can be satisfied with adaptations.

I personally like the wardrobe for this more than Netflix's Bridgerton show and the Emma movie. Bridegerton took a while to grow on me and there are some costumes I like a lot but it's obvious they aren't going for period accuracy, which I can forgive since the novels are bodice rippers.
Meanwhile, Austen adaptations have the expectations for more attention to period accuracy given Jane Austen novels were written during and about the Regency era. But still, given that art will always evolve, I like to see new adaptations' interpretation. Some of them do well, others not so much.

I like that Elizabeth's outfit.

It is always sad and a little frustrating when your fandom space seems to get into a trend you can't stand.

I am a big wimp when it comes to 'scary' movies of any kind. His movies get to me, and the trailers are really well done to enhance and showcase that creepy/scary!
