Re: What have you accomplished recently?
(Anonymous) 2025-08-17 12:28 am (UTC)(link)I'm a data hoarder and I had around 120.000 images right-clicked-saved through almost 20 years in online fandom. Problem is that a lot of them where saved on different devices and on folders like "New Folder 1" and "asdfghjk1" with images from vastly different fandoms and even some personal photos all mixed together, so it was a real mess.
I regrouped all the images saved on different HDDs in a single place, used AllDup to detect all duplicated and delete it (great software, I highly recommend it) and then I got through all the mixed folders and filtered them in their proper ones.
I created an entire new system dividing fandom using their different medias (animanga/tvshows/movies/videogames/etc) and since I'm a visual artist I also divided my "original art" folder with a new criteria like "awesome ink" and "incredible watercolours" folders, so I can easily access the stuff that inspire me the most.
Some sections are still a mess, like the "Random folder" where I put all images that are not fandom related or related to one of my specific interest. But UHM I'm going to leave it like that in the spirit of what my organisation system once was.
It was a drag, but also incredibly interesting to see ll the different fandom I was a fan of in like 2007-2009! And I saved a lot of memes from tumblr... I now have a fandom names "tumblr shenanigans" and it's... uhm... cringe. But also strangely endearing!
I also have saved around 150 secrets from F!S, aha! The ones I liked the most (let me tell you the secrets around 2010s were very different). I still sometimes do it.
Now I have 85.000 pictures! I moved a bunch of photos and pruned a lot of duplicates and ugly stuff that I was not really a fan of, like fanarts of stuff I was not sure what it was of. But I haven't touched almost anything. All my past passions are still documented in all their cringe and I'm actually proud of that. Too easy to delete old fandoms! The hard part was coming to terms with my terrible taste, ahaha.
Now I'm in the middle of reorganising my photo folders. I worked on that this past week and I'm on the right path on the filtering/duplicate side. But with photos I will also have to delete a bunch of them, so I have to look at them one by one. Fucking kill me.

(Anonymous) 2025-08-17 12:42 am (UTC)(link)My dog died and my husband wants pictures and videos of him. My husband doesn’t use facebook which is where I always posted and now mostly look at our dog’s pics and vids. I have husband the best of those but it’s very few tbh and only from the last five years.
I’ve always just dumped my phone onto my computer without separating or deleting anything. Then when the hard drive got full I’d move folders onto the external that was closest to hand. I NEED to go through all that and I don’t even know how.
So thank you so much for this because I want to see puppy pictures of my boy again and I want to share with my husband the videos of our boy playing at the dog park the first time and the picture of when he destroyed the living room because I got distracted.
