I've heard of a lot of the characters you list but I've never heard of Bubsy, so I share your outrage!

I am still sad Balan Wonderworld did not fill the NiGHTS into Dreams hole in my heart.

Also, as much as I want another Jak and Daxter, I admit the Naughty Dog I used to like back then I don't particularly like much now, so I don't know if I want them to make J&D. Maybe if they handed it off to another developer who will do it justice. (And let's face it, they don't seem interested to go back to making Funny Cartoon Characters games anymore. They, like so many triple A developers, just gotta make their game Super Realistic looking.)

Otherwise, I got nothing. I've not played a Bubsy game and only know it through the series infamy, so I assume part of the games being such a failure kind of had the opposite effect as time passed where people look at the cheesiness of the games with charm and the demand for it grew, I guess? That and nostalgia. I assume there are folks out there who did like most of them (well, maybe except Bubsy 3D.)

In any case, I can't (sorta) complain. MY favorite funny mascot platformer is Crash Bandicoot and the games had a great comeback for a brief time (I am a Crash 4 truther.) I will still be salty at Activision. That proposed Crash 5 with Crash and Coco crossing over to the Spyro the Dragon world sounded amazing. I'm mad we'll never get that (yes, yes, I know about the GBA games, but I don't know anyone who really liked those games beyond the age of, like, 6.)

Bubsy is like that guy in college who forcibly invites himself to everyone's parties but can't take the hint that nobody actually likes him, let alone wants him at the party.

I'll be the but of the joke and just guess that it's an ownership thing.
Jax and Dex were rather recent, and games like Earthworm Jim (a game I've always adored and halfway thought was a feverdream) was either not relevant enough, or there's some crosswires hatched where they really do believe this is the best option if maybe because the annoyance of the character made it maybe more memorable?
