I don't feel like the lice action/animation model comparison is all that eerily similar. HTTYD's style is cartoony enough that it would be difficult to pull that off.

But I can relate re: creepy cosplays. I don't know what it's like nowadays, but a decade or so ago I'd see people both Asian and not cosplaying anime characters, and they'd contour their noses to look very thin and pointy, their chins to look small and pointy as well, and the eye make-up was focused on making the eye look enormous, eyeliner and lenses and all, and it was very unpleasant to look at.

(I get a little bit of this feeling when I see those 'transformation' douyins, when you can see that the girl Before is pretty in her own way, but after applying make-up she looks like a generic prettyface because god forbid a woman with narrow eyes and a broader nose is considered beautiful and not corrected lol.)
