I haven't watched in years, and headlines surrounding America are basically already a joke. They could make the joke about how bad and transparent the lies are, but that's only work once or twice.
On a different note I do remember that the main guy from the GTA series (before they fired him or whatever happened there a few years? ago) saying something about it was incredibly difficult to parody the world as it was because reality itself acted like a parody. (or something like that) I'm sure something similar is going on with SP. Especially if they're still doing the make the episode from scratch week by week thing.
