My own childhood was roller coaster between supper girley and tom-boy. One year I wore only overalls and think the makeup kits marketed to kids are stupid. The next I wear only skirts (funny story, I had to buy a pair of jeans at a thrift shop so I could go on a trail ride. I still wish they would have let me ride side saddle), and now I wear jeans everyday and makeup anytime I intend to leave the house. I prefer to just do what makes me feel comfortable, it's so much easier. Luckily I had a family who put up with my constant waffling, and a good thrift shop so I could redo my wardrobe every few years.

And THANK YOU to the posters above re: feminism. It's supposed to be about having the ability to choose, and if someone WANTS to get married, take her husband's name, and stay home to bake cookies and raise children, that's her CHOICE. (OMG, the rage makes me capslock) Just like it's her choice to go to work, or wear pants, or own a blue car, it's all the same; or at least it should be. I think the problem is a lot of the self proclaimed feminists I've met are too quick to tell women what they should do to be equal, and not to do what makes them happy because they already are equal. (This is also why I don't like many of the self proclaimed feminists I know...)
