atp i like wow in spite of it being online, not because. sad but true. there's lots you can do solo and i am old and tired and sick of dealing with random people. i don't have the energy to meet new people and make new friends. the game is still fun even if you play solo and they are making it better for solo players

This is complete news to me tbh. I honestly thought you had to team up with other players as a default, at least when dealing with bosses if not in general. Is there a setting to turn off multiplayer, or something?
The only real MMORPG I ever played was (very shortly) a Shin Megami Tensei game decades ago, and I remember some guy just basically babying me through a dungeon by basically just telling me to follow him out of no where. He was really nice, but I can't imagine it being so different in WoW that rando's won't just try and talk to you regardless.
