Duplo is what you buy for a toddler. Lego is for everyone else. And the Lego movies (and video games) are made for everyone else. They contain some silliness and whimsy and also a lot of thoughtful exploration of their universe whether it’s Indiana Jones, Marvel, The Incredibles, or Star Wars. The Star Wars ones in particular have a reputation for delivering some of the best scenes in their universe. The Lego Star Wars building sets are made primarily for super fans and have a high percentage of products for adults.

... go into any store, the only thing that keeps Legos being advertised to babies is their chocking hazard. Just because it complements an adult audience, doesn't mean it's meant for them any more than Dexter's Lab or the PowerPuff Girls were. It doesn't matter that superfans fall for their advertisements, you're not gonna find an R rated Lego move- even if all the people attending forget to bring their kids anyways.
