OP here. Those fandoms were recced to me by friends because they know my overall tastes, not strictly because I asked for fantasy recs. So it wasn't as random and bad takes as it seems! And tbf to my friends I did really like all of those shows, they just aren't what I'm looking for for fandom.

I have tried to get into LOTR several times and it just doesn't work for me, but that is definitely the type I'm looking for.
